My Story
Anthony Pereira is a Venezuelan Rights advocate for the Human Rights of Immigrants, transgender, and LGBTQ+ communities.
He was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and his community work began in New York City, when he met Lorena
Borjas (Mother in the field and Mentor), through El Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo in March 2018, where he had the opportunity to participate in and develop activities as a volunteer.
Later in September 2021, he met Jessica Guaman, who was a cornerstone in his development as an activist.
Together, they started the Transgender Program at Betances Health Center, and since then, they have been working to support and educate the TGNC Community.
His commitment and dedication to community work over the years have enabled him to serve as a Care Coordinator at Betances Health Center since August 2021.
Subsequently, he joined the Hope TGNC Latinx board as a co-director in September of the same year. Since then, he has been working and advocating for the Immigrant, Transgender, and LGBTQI+ rights in New
York City, with the primary goal of eradicating the stigma and ensuring the quality of life of our communities.
